The son of a musician father, Olzhas was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan and lost his mother when he was only seven years old. Since that time, until he came of age, he was cared for by the State Orphanage, where he was always regarded as very intelligent. In school, he pursued courses in journalism, computers, and sports.

At the early age of 12, he began working summer vacations at an auto repair shop. It was here several years later where THE RECRUITER director Guka Omarova discovered and cast the teenager in the film’s title role.

To promote the opening of the film (aka SCHIZO) he traveled to New York (which was a big deal!). At the time, Olzhas was not sure about his future profession, but said he would like to work in the oil industry, or journalism, or even continue acting.
